Recapping the 6th Annual LIC Waterfront 5K

Our 6th Annual LIC Waterfront 5K occurred this past Saturday, September 18th and was a huge success! Runners gathered in Hunters Point South Park early Saturday morning to pick up their shirts and bib number as they awaited the start of the race. There were 1,100 registered participants, 150 of whom were kids that participated in the Shibley Day Camp Center Blvd. Kids Dash! It was a wonderful turnout this year as we were able to hold the race in-person after being virtual last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic; people young and old truly showed their support for their LIC community.

The 3.1 mile course began at Center Blvd and Borden Ave., taking runners and walkers through the streets of LIC and looping back through Gantry Plaza State Park to the finish line at Hunter’s Point South Park. Thank you to our race day organizers Woodside-Sunnyside Runners, Run LIC, and all of the outstanding volunteers and our sponsors. Full race results, including pictures of each runner crossing the finish line can be found here. Also, be sure to check out our photos from the event - see if you can find yourself!
