Garden With Us!
The gardens in Hunter’s Point South Park and Gantry Plaza State Park are home to numerous native and naturalized plant species that create a sustainable ecosystem and promote the ecological well-being of the waterfront. However, invasive weeds such as mugwort, bindweed, thistle, phragmites, and more outcompete and destroy native plants. Removing them is not only cleansing for our gardens, but for our minds. Gardening and volunteering in one of the city’s most scenic waterfront parks provides an enjoyable distraction from the stresses of daily city-living.
Each year, we remove around 2,000 bags of weeds from the park, and with more volunteers we can make an even bigger impact. Any help is greatly appreciated and participation from all ages is warmly welcomed.
**2025 Gardening starts on May 3rd with I love My Park Day. We will run weekly volunteer gardening days Thursdays and Saturdays from 10AM-12PM through October 30th, weather depending.**

Bulbfest
Since 2015, HPPC has hosted an annual Bulbfest, where hundreds of community volunteers help us plant daffodils, tulips, alliums, and other flowers in the parks. In the last 10 years, we’ve planted nearly 100,000 bulbs, that come up in the spring.
This event welcomes people of all ages to take part in beautifying our parks, and is held each year on the first Saturday in November. Check back in October for the sign up link to join us!
2025 Bulbfest will be on November 1st!
