Queens Landing Boathouse
And Environmental Center
Hunters Point Parks Conservancy partnered with the Newtown Creek Alliance, North Brooklyn Community Boathouse, and Gotham Point LIC to open the Queens Landing Boathouse & Environmental Center, which provides recreational boating programs for youths and adults, hosts year-round events, and offers educational programming centered around environmental sustainability.
Hunters Point Parks Conservancy operates the Queens Landing Boathouse and Environmental Center to provide recreational access to the water, especially for people who’ve never had the opportunity to try recreational boating before, and to educate the communities of Hunters Point, Long Island City, and Western Queens and the parks, river, and creek that define the waterfront.
Located at the confluence of the East River and Newtown Creek, Queens Landing provides western Queens, and all New Yorkers, the chance to explore the ecosystems of the East River, Newtown Creek, and Long Island City, and gives access to a waterway that has been dominated by industrial use for more than a century and a half.

COMMUNITY BOATING
Providing recreational access to the water, especially for people who’ve never had the opportunity to try recreational boating before, is a key part of the mission of the Queens Landing Boathouse and Environmental Center.
We host free monthly public paddle sessions from late spring to the fall to let people get out on the water. North Brooklyn Community Boathouse also runs member trips to help people get familiar with the water and be trained to help with public programming, and free boating safety classes in the off season to help people learn to recreate responsibly.
2025 public paddles will be held on Sundays, weather permitting, because there is usually less traffic on Newtown Creek. If rain is forecast, they will be moved to that Saturday - follow our Instagram for updates. The dates are:
Sunday Jun 22 - inclement weather day is Saturday Jun 21
Saturday July 12 (City Of Water Day) - inclement weather day is Sunday July 13
Sunday Aug 10 - inclement weather day is Saturday Aug 9
Sunday Sept 14 - inclement weather day is Saturday Sept 13
