Submit testimony to restore funding for OneLIC community commitments

Long Island City went through an over 2-year process as part of the OneLIC rezoning plan. In order for it to pass, the City made commitments to the community on parks, schools, transportation, and public realm improvements that are necessary for our neighborhood to absorb another nearly 15,000 housing units.

Despite this, the executive budget cuts or delays for funding for several key areas of the OneLIC plan. You can help push back by submitting testimony to City Hall to call for funding restoration.

We’ve put together a template letter for you to help. Just go to this example letter, click file → make a copy, and edit your letter by adding information to the highlighted areas.

Once you’ve finished, download your letter (file→download as PDF or DOC). Then go to council.nyc.gov/testify/, select submit written testimony from the drop-down menu under “how will you be testifying,” add your information, say you are testifying at the June 10 Finance Committee meeting, and upload your letter. You must submit the letter by June 13.

You can also sign up to testify in person or via Zoom at the hearing on June 10 on the same website.
