Experience the vibrant world of botanical sketching with watercolors—a perfect blend of art and science in this introductory adult beginner-friendly workshop. After a brief orientation, we’ll venture into the park for inspiration, then return to the classroom to add watercolors.
You’ll discover watercolor techniques, with a special focus on mixing and matching colors to capture the beauty of your chosen subject.
In the park, you’ll select a subject and sketch directly from life, using a magnifying glass and ruler to help you achieve accuracy and detail.
Back in the classroom, you’ll learn how to transfer your sketch onto watercolor paper and begin painting, with a focus on glazing techniques. Start with a base color, then build up shadows and enrich your painting one delicate layer at a time.
All materials are supplied, but please bring your own art kit if you prefer.
