Celebrate Bulbfest with Watercolor Flowers
Each year, the Hunters Point Parks Conservancy plants over 15,000 bulbs during its annual LIC Bulbfest in Gantry Plaza State Park and Hunter’s Point South Park. Now that the tulips and daffodils are tucked in for winter, join us for a relaxing floral watercolor painting session inspired by the celebration.
This beginner-friendly class opens with a brief, fun presentation on the history and science of flower bulbs. Then a playful, hands-on painting session where you’ll learn the basics of color mixing and brush control, plus techniques like wet-on-wet and wet-on-dry.
You’ll practice petal, leaf, and stem shapes, then paint your own tulip, or any flower that inspires you.
Saturday, November 14, 11:00 am - 1:30 pm
All materials provided: paints, brushes, and watercolor paper.
Taught by Monica Schroeder, a professional scientific illustrator and watercolorist.
