An inspiring, beginner-friendly adult watercolor workshop at Queens Landing Environmental Education Center
Let the natural beauty of Hunters Point Park spark your creativity in this calming watercolor workshop designed for all skill levels.
In the first half of the class, you’ll enjoy hands-on, guided play with watercolor techniques that will build your skills. We’ll explore water and paint flow, brush control, wet-on-wet color mixing, color lifting, and a few helpful tips on mixing. We’ll also talk about paints, papers, and other materials.
After a short break, we’ll simplify the basics of color theory and introduce the idea of a “mother color” that unifies and creates color harmony.
Three sessions: June: Birds, Bees & Beetles, July: Marine Life, August: Botanicals.
This class is perfect for beginners or for experienced watercolorists looking for a relaxed, guided experience.
All materials are provided: Watercolor paints, brushes, paper, and a cardboard mat for easy framing of your finished artwork.
Instructor: MonicaSchroeder, professional scientific illustrator and watercolor teacher. Brought to you by North Brooklyn Community Boathouse and Hunters Point Park Conservancy
